1349 est un groupe norvégien de Black metal formé à Oslo en 1997 par d'anciens membres de Alvheim.

Le groupe produit une musique plus traditionnelle que d'autres formations de black metal, la production est en effet plus soignée que celle de groupes comme Darkthrone. Le style et la structure musicale sont similaires à la seconde vague des groupes norvégiens de la deuxième moitié des années 1990. 1349 a été comparé à Enslaved, Burzum, Gorgoroth, Immortal, et Mayhem. De plus, 1349 est célèbre pour son batteur, Frost (jouant aussi dans Satyricon), l'un des plus rapides du monde. Le nom 1349 a été choisi par le groupe car c'est l'année de l'arrivée de la peste en Norvège.

SANGUINARIUS
Sanguinarius was founded in the city of Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa late 2003 by Anton van Niekerk. The band is mainly associated with the Black Metal genre. It is, however creating a fresh new sound which it likes to call "Psychotic Black Metal", combining the melodic riffs of Black Metal with a more eerie, mind altering sound.

The band was originally known as "Sanguinary" when Anton started composing songs, some of which are featured on the debut album. He was accompanied by Wessel Chörs on guitars. During 2004 Lee Wollenschlaeger (Imperial Empire, Human Meat Blocks) joined on drums. Later that year Anton went solo and started recording complete songs, playing all instruments himself. During 2005 the band's name was changed to "Sanguinarius" and Anton was joined by Luhan du Plessis (formerly Nocturnal Diminion, currently ExCathedra) as session rhythm guitarist and Derek Gilroy (formerly Cell66) on vocals. Due to creative differences Anton once again went solo during 2006, but was soon joined by Alta Louw whose demented style in writing lyrics perfectly matched Anton's recordings. Anton is recording and finalizing all the music for the debut album and Alta is contributing most of the lyrics and the sound and style is now complete.

"Revelations" release scheduled for Early 2008. Anton is also currently composing and recording music for a second album to which a theme has already been established.
